Visas for Cuba are green for all almost all tourists , including those who hold a EU, Canadian, UK and Australian passport (some exceptions are listed in the section VISA FOR CUBA: SOME EXCEPTIONS) and is also known as Tourist Card ("Tarjeta del Turista" in Spanish).
Basically, a Visa for Cuba is a green piece of paper (as shown in the picture) which must be filled in by the tourist in all its parts, providing some personal information such as: name, surname, passport number, date of birth and citizenship.
In fact, the Visa is made of two parts, which are very similar to each other. Both must be filled in.
As soon as you land in Cuba, an Immigration Officer will check out your Visa. The officer will keep one part of the Visa and will stamp the other part, which is going to be handed back to you.
From that moment on, the tourist is allowed to stay in Cuba for up to 30 days. Should the tourist need to extend his or her stay, it is possible to apply for an extension in any Immigration Office of the Country a few days before the expiry date of the current Visa. You can't extend your Visa in advance and you can't buy a Visa which is valid for more than 30 days.
It is very important to keep your Visa safe. When you check in at any hotel or Casa Particular in Cuba, you will be required to show your Visa. Moreover, when leaving Cuba, the tourist will be required to hand in his Visa to the immigration Officer at the airport.
Failing to comply with this request, can bring about annoying consequences, such as having to pay a fine and also some additional paperwork.
